Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have many things in common, one of them being their love for dogs. The former Suits actress owned two dogs Bogart and Guy, before she met Prince Harry and decided to move her life to the U.K. Sadly, only Guy was able to come with her into the Kensington palace after the royal wedding. Poor Bogart was moved to Canada to stay with Meghan’s close friend.
Apparently, Guy was getting lonely at the big palace without his best friend Bogart which is why Meghan and Harry decided to get another dog.
A source close to the couple said that the dog has already embraced the cottage as his new home. Much like his owners, he will have to divide his time between Kensington Palace and Cotswolds country home. The source hasn’t revealed the dog’s name yet, so we’ll just call him ‘the dog’ for now.
A Wedding Gift for Meghan Markle?
Meghan Markle clearly has a preference for adopted pets since both of her previous dogs were taken from rescue centers.
Many are speculating that ‘the dog’ was also saved from a shelter in the U.K. A source close to Markle says that she was very close to Guy and Bogart. She would only buy them the best quality food and even let them sleep with her on the bed.
Markle had asked her friend in Canada to take in Bogart temporarily while she settled down in her new life as a royal. He was expected to come to the U.K. with Guy but the vet advised to keep Bogart behind because he was too old to make the big move to London.
Meghan Markle was reportedly heartbroken that her beloved dog wasn’t able to join her at the palace. Sunday Express columnist, Adam Helliker, reported after the couple’s engagement that Harry planned on giving Meghan a dog as wedding gift. Since Harry himself had wanted a canine companion for the longest time, it was a win-win for both of them.
