Everyone stay calm, the third season of hit television series, 13 Reasons Why, could hit the screens very soon, according to Netflix’s official statement in June. Here are all the details we have gathered so far.
Coming Next Year
After the second season of 13 Reasons Why ended with a bang in May, Netflix announced that it won’t be long before the premier of the new season.
Fans were treated to a short teaser trailer showing a mystery figure opening a locker to Liberty High to reach for a lunch bag when a mystery figure walked across the screen. Was it Clay or Bryce? Guess we’ll have to wait till 2019 to find out.
Liberty High Already Booked
Three months ago, Sonoma West Times & News revealed that Paramount Pictures has already acquired the third licensing agreement from West Sonoma County Union High School District, the real school were the series was filmed.
Production Started in June
Sonoma West Times & News reported that the school’s locker rooms have already been occupied by the production crew and filming will continue until mid-December.
Paramount Pictures has booked the location for 30 filming days in total and will pay the school district $66,000 for the period.
Story Isn’t Over Yet
In a recent interview with Hollywood Reporter, 13 Reasons Why showrunner Brian Yorkey said that the story isn’t over yet. He said that the season will continue to follow the characters instead of creating new reasons or a different plot.
Hannah No Longer in Spotlight
The first two seasons of 13 Reasons Why revolved heavily around Hannah but in the third season of the show, the spotlight will most probably be on other characters. Yorkey said in an interview with entertainment weekly that fans will witness more bonds in the third season that the characters didn’t have before.
Katherine Langford’s Exit from the Show
If Hannah Baker is no longer the focal point of the hit series, it only means that we won’t be seeing much (or any) of Katherine Langford in the third season.
The actress bid farewell in a heartfelt Instagram post thanking the producers for giving her the opportunity to kickstart her acting career with such a huge television success. We’ll miss you Hannah!
Story Will Focus on Teenagers
Netflix’s Yorkey said that even though the series originally began with Hannah’s story, 13 Reasons Why will have a powerful message for young people who are learning to heal from things that have hurt them and find a way to make the world a better place.
Salary Negotiations Delayed Production
According to reports, the first table read was delayed because cast members were asking for a higher paycheck that they had received in the second season.
Dylan Minnette, who started 13 Reasons Why with $80,000 per episode, asked for $200,000 in the third season. Other cast members also asked for around $150,000 per episode.
