Mac Miller was found unconscious in his San Fernando Valley home on September 7 around noon. He had been very open about his struggles with addiction in the past.
In 2015, he gave an interview to Billboard where he admitted to doing drugs after the success of his first album. The rapper added that although he wasn’t doing as many drugs as he used to in the past, he was never really able to kick his habit of substance abuse.
History of DUIs
Miller also said in the interview that he was scared of dying and that fear pushed him to create more music. He was due to start touring next month to promote his latest album Swimming.
Just last month, the 26-year-old was caught driving under the influence. Even prior to the incident he had a history of DUIs. In May, Miller crashed his car into a power pole while driving around in San Fernando Valley with two other friends. He reportedly fled the scene but the police was able to track him down and arrest him at his home.
Only weeks before the incident, reports had emerged that the embattled rapper has broken up with Ariana Grande. Even after the breakup, the God is a Woman singer called Miller her ‘best friend’ and said that she had nothing but love and respect for him.
